Reducing Plastic Bottle Wastage

The driving force behind Sauce Stream is to be a catalyst for change with single use plastics worldwide. As the age old saying goes ‘Every Action Has a Reaction’, hence the change the planet’s environment has seen since the introduction of plastic bottles and the major shift from glass to plastic bottles.

The what? Question has been answered and is clear to see, more importantly the why question is one Saucestream wholeheartedly believes has a resounding answer for. Our market research and consumer understanding has reinforced our understanding that glass bottles would be the preferred option if they had the same functionality as plastic bottles. What separates our squeezers is the fact they bring the ‘squeezability’ factor to glass bottles. Not only are they Reusable they reduce food waste with its smartly engineered mechanism that stops leakage and is easily washable.

Our Squeezers can swing the pendulum back in favour of the glass bottle rather than single use plastics.

It is estimated that 60% of the plastic that is manufactured is single use, and is thrown away within minutes or hours of use. 50% of the plastic ever manufactured, has been made within the last 15 years. Every year, 8 million tons of plastic endangers marine life and wildlife across the globe.

Industry experts within science and chemistry have come to the conclusion, that plastics will take 400 years to decompose which is a startling prediction considering the fact that hundreds of millions of tonnes single use plastics are being discarded year on year. To put in to figures, it is forecasted that by 2050, if there is no change in consumer behaviour; there will be more than 720,000,000 tons of plastic in our seas and a further 3,240,000,000 tons of plastic in landfill sites. A change needs to be made, and it needs to be made fast. Using glass sauce bottles as opposed to plastic is a simple change we can make to make a major difference.
